Fordham gets first win under Joe Conlin, thumps Lehigh 43-14
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Tim DeMorat threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a third and Fordham collected its first win of the season, downing Lehigh 43-14 in a Patriot League battle on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams lost five straight games to start the season and the victory is the first under first-year head coach Joe Conlin.
DeMorat, a freshman, hit Jonathan Lumley with a 73-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter and scored from a yard out with :16 left in the half to send the Rams into halftime with a 22-6 lead.
Austin Longi had five catches for 108 yards for Fordham (1-5, 1-1) and Corey Caddle caught three for 100 yards and a touchdown. Tyriek Hopkins carried 16 times for 117 yards and a score and Naim Mayfield carried 19 times for 89 yards and two scores.
DeMorat finished 14 of 23 without an interception.
Brad Mayes was 20 of 31 for 282 yards for Lehigh (1-5, 0-1), but had three passes picked off.
