Florida State safety Tre Marshall ejected for targeting
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State safety Tre Marshall was ejected for targeting during the fourth quarter of the 12th-ranked Seminoles' game against No. 3 Clemson on Saturday night.
Marshall led with the crown of his helmet on a 17-yard completion to Mike Williams. The Seminoles led 28-20 at the time but the Tigers would score later in the drive to get within two. The Tigers missed the 2-point conversion.
Marshall, a senior, was Florida State's leading tackler with 11 at the time of his ejection.
The ejection also means that Marshall will miss the first half of Florida State's game next Saturday at North Carolina State. It is the first time a Florida State player has been ejected for targeting since linebacker Matthew Thomas was ejected during the second half of the Oct. 8 game at Miami.
