Florida assistants to earn $2.66 million in 2010

Florida's assistant coaches will earn $2.66 million in base salary in 2010, placing them near the top in the Southeastern Conference.

The contracts were released Tuesday. Each of the nine assistants will receive a $10,000 bonus as part of the school's apparel contract with Nike and have the use of a dealership car. The contracts run through January 2012.

New defensive coordinator Teryl Austin tops the list at $440,000 annually, followed by offensive coordinator Steve Addazio ($375,000), defensive line coach Dan McCarney ($340,000) and secondary coach Chuck Heater ($305,000).

Quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler, tight ends coach Brian White, running backs coach Stan Drayton, linebackers coach D.J. Durkin and receivers coach Zach Azzanni will earn $240,000 apiece.

Addazio will receive an additional undisclosed stipend for tasks done in place of head coach Urban Meyer, who has scaled back his workload since returning from a leave of absence.

Heater, who has been on Florida's staff since 2005, received a $50,000 raise from last season. Loeffler also received a $50,000 raise. White got $40,000 more, and McCarney earned a $20,000 bump.

Austin, Drayton, Durkin and Azzanni joined Florida's staff in 2010.

All the raises are in line with what defending national champion Alabama gave its assistants, and the $2.66 million is about what Auburn and LSU paid its assistants in 2009. Tennessee's assistants will earn $2.725 million in 2010.
