Florida A&M tabs Simmons as football coach
(STATS) - Florida A&M is expecting new football coach Willie Simmons to provide the Aggies with the kind of success he had at Prairie View A&M the last three seasons.
Simmons, a Tallahassee-area native, will be formally introduced as the coach during a news conference on Florida A&M's campus Tuesday morning.
He seeks to turn around a FAMU program that has suffered six straight losing seasons, including 3-8 this year under former coach Alex Wood.
Simmons resigned at Prairie View last week. The former Clemson and The Citadel player had a 21-11 record, including 19-6 in SWAC games, coaching the Panthers.
