Elite linebacker prospect narrows down list to final five schools

Ranked as the No. 7 prospect in the entire country by Rivals.com, linebacker Ben Davis can virtually play his college ball at the university of his choosing.

On Monday, he narrowed his list down to five schools -- in order of his preference.

Listed first was Georgia, followed by Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, and Auburn. The Alabama native has long considered the Bulldogs -- and his interest in the school may be punctuated even further by the hiring of Kirby Smart as Georgia's head coach. He had a preexisting relationship from when he was the defensive coordinator at Alabama, and this surely will translate over to Athens.

At 6'4", 236 pounds, Davis is a physical specimen seen rarely on the collegiate level. He's versatile enough to fit in both a 3-4 and 4-3 scheme, and has the athleticism to impact early in his career.

Landing Davis would be a massive coup for any of the schools -- particularly for Smart in the early portion of his tenure at Georgia.
