Eagles' Alston transferring to Stony Brook

Boston College's versatile wide receiver/running back Sherman Alston is transferring to Stony Brook, an FCS school in Long Island, N.Y., for the 2016 season.

The 5-6, 173-pound Alston caught seven passes for 77 yards and rushed 13 times for 36 yards in 2015 and has scored a total of two career touchdowns with the Eagles.

Seawolves head coach Chuck Priore said he was excited to have Alston on his team.

“With the addition of Sherman we have increased our big play capabilities on offense,” Priore said in a statement. “He is a player that can play numerous roles on offense and be a big impact on special teams.”

For his career, Alston has returned 38 punts and has an 8.1 yards per return average.
