Duke Football Hopes to Continue Recent Road Game Success in First Away Game

David Cutcliffe has led Duke Football to an excellent record on the road in away games since the 2013 season.

Duke Football head coach David Cutcliffe has greatly improved the program since taking over in 2008. One of the ways his changes have can be seen is how the Blue Devils have performed in road games over the past few years.

The Blue Devils have excelled on the road since the 2013 season winning 13 out of 16 true away games. Their 13 road victories leads the conference and is tied for second in the NCAA only behind Ohio State’s 15 during that span. Cutcliffe has encouraged the players to concentrate only on football while travelling on the road, and he’s helped eliminate distractions the team could face by keeping the team isolated together.

Heading into the first road game of 2016, senior wide receiver notes how the team is “prepared” and “everybody’s locked in” to win an away game coming off their first loss of the season to Wake Forest last week.

Hopefully the program’s success in away games will continue this year, with several difficult road matchups this season. The Blue Devils head to Illinois to face Northwestern tomorrow night and also face Notre Dame, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Pitt, and Miami on the road this year.
