Don't expect MSU QB to turn into Crazy Legs Cook

If Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook's 48 yards rushing against Purdue last weekend got anyone excited about a new dimension coming to the MSU offense on a regular basis, the Detroit Free Press reports they should temper future expectations. 

Inclement weather was also a factor. 

If the sky is clear Saturday night at Rutgers and the offensive line gets back one or both of its injured tackles, Cook figures to be asked to go back to focusing mostly on doing damage with his arm. 

The main stuff was an emergency-shuffled offensive line that had MSU coaches more comfortable using Cook as a run threat than setting up in the pocket – the Spartans passed seven times in the second half, using rollouts multiple times and opting for a swing pass on a key third down.

When a defense is in man coverage, that often leaves no one with eyes on a quarterback as he leaves a pocket.
