Did Nigel Warrior's father reveal his son's college choice?
The recruitment of Nigel Warrior is coming down to the wire. With Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee knocking at his door, which school will ultimately land the signature of one of the best high school safety prospects in 2016? According to his father, former Tennessee All-American and NFL player Dale Carter, the decision may have already been made.
Carter recently spoke to Scout affiliate Inside Tennessee and appears to have leaked his son's decision. Unless of course this was simply a father's wishful thinking on his son's choice of schools. Carter was asked if Warrior has struggled handling expectations following in his well-known father's footsteps:
No, not really. He’s a very humble kid.
He’s a grinder. I tell him about the things and what he to expect before even when he gets to school — when he gets to Tennessee. I just tell him the things that you’ve got to expect. He’s not going to live in my shoes. He’s got his own path.
Scout ranks Warrior as a five-star prospect and the No. 20 overall prospect in the nation. It should be noted that Warrior's Peachtree Ridge High School teammate and fellow defensive back Baylen Buchanan is committed to Tennessee's 2016 recruiting class, giving the talented safety another tie to the Vols program.
Despite connections that may link Tennessee as the favorite, Warrior has been busy exploring his options in recent weeks. He has made visits to LSU, Auburn and Alabama over the last couple of weekends and will make an official visit to Knoxville this weekend before National Signing Day. Whichever school lands his signature, Nigel Warrior will certainly be a name to watch starting this fall in the SEC.
