Devonte Mathis finds motivation through adversity for the Mountaineers

West Virginia has featured its fair share of star power at the wide receiver in recent years. Tavon Austin. Stedman Bailey. Kevin White. All of those guys are in the NFL and had huge careers in Morgantown.

Devonte Mathis doesn't have the flash of those guys, but his journey to West Virginia is as impressive as anyone's.

Mathis lost his father earlier this October.

“Sometimes you’re gonna have bad days, but you just have to bounce back and keep moving forward,” he said.

Mathis has struggled to get on the field often, but when he has, he's impressed. He's especially excited for the TCU game, as he has plenty of family in the Dallas area.
