David Shaw gets defensive on issue of play-calling

Stanford coach David Shaw has come under considerable fire for his conservative offensive game plan against Northwestern. It seems like he's tired of the questions. 

"No one asked me that question when we set a Stanford school record for points after the bowl game [last season] and after we scored 56 points on USC a few years ago in triple overtime," Shaw said to reporters this week. 

While Stanford only scored 27.2 points per game in 2014, Shaw still felt confident that his offense would be successful in 2015. After scoring only six points against Northwestern, it was fair game to ask Shaw about his play-calling duties. Shaw responded to another question about his game plan by referring to his track record at Stanford.

"I'm going to lean on our track record," Shaw said. "It's the same play-calling group that played against a great UCLA defense last year and played great [in a 31-10 victory]."
