Cyrus Jones eager for another shot at Ole Miss, Treadwell

One of the main matchups to watch Saturday night will be Alabama's best cornerback, senior Cyrus Jones, against Ole Miss' best receiver, junior Laquon Treadwell. Last season, Alabama fared well against Treadwell, holding the star receiver to five receptions and 55 receiving yards.

Heading into this weekend's contest, Jones respects the challenge facing him on the other side of the ball, but isn't showing any lack of confidence going against a likely NFL receiver.

"He's a great player and I'm looking forward to the challenge and I'm sure the other guys are too," said Jones, according to AL.com. "I don't back down from nobody so I'm excited to go out and compete."

Does the fact that Ole Miss upset the Tide still linger in the back of the player's minds in Tuscaloosa? Yes and no.

"They beat us last year. It's going to be a tough game," Jones said. "It's not on our mind but it's in the back of our head and we want a chance to get back at these guys. They're coming in our house and we're just trying to get back at them like they did us."

The matchups on the outside are likely to be just as important as the matchups for both team's linemen in this early season SEC showdown. If Treadwell goes wild, the Rebels will likely come away with another upset. On the flip side, if Jones shuts him down, expect the Tide to come out on top. Game on.
