'Cowboy backs' on full display at spring game
Oklahoma State takes a unique approach to its tight ends, developing them into hybrid offensive threats that can also be used as fullbacks.
Head coach Mike Gundy is keen on putting his hybrid tight end/fullbacks, or as he calls them "Cowboy backs," into frequent use this coming season, as displayed in Oklahoma State's spring game.
“We thought that over the last few years by not having that position, that fullback and that tight end, we struggled some running the football,” Gundy told reporters. “We feel like that can help us."
