Could Steve Spurrier Jr. join the Florida coaching staff?
Like father, like son?
Steve Spurrier Jr. -- the son of the iconic former Florida head coach -- may be continuing his coaching career at a very familiar spot.
Via a report from GridironNow, Spurrier Jr. is in consideration for the vacant offensive quality control assistant job on Jim McElwain's staff.
If this were to occur, Spurrier Jr. would bring considerable experience to the position. He coached the previous 11 seasons at South Carolina under his father. Prior to that, he's had stints at Arizona and Oklahoma, as well as with the Washington Redskins.
His coaching career began at Florida in the mid-90's -- once his playing days at Duke ended. Spurrier Jr. likely has a great grasp on the entire entity that is Florida Gators football. He should be able to recruit exceptionally well to the school -- promoting its respective strengths (and undoubtedly pointing to the success his father had).
Plus, it'd be fun to see a Spurrier back on the sidelines in "The Swamp."
