Could Seth Collins be a breakout star?

Seth Collins, Oregon State's true freshman QB, could be the PAc-12's biggest breakout star come September, according to Dave Lombardi of ESPN.com.

Of Collins, Lombardi had this to say:

"If the battle to replace Sean Mannion ended today, Collins would be the likely starter. The true freshman proved that he was a true dual threat during spring practice, throwing for 208 yards and rushing for 81 more during the Beavers' final exhibition."

Collins is a true dual threat QB who has a chance to immediately come in and play for new coach Gary Andersen. While a decision on the QB position will likely be made sometime in late-August, it looks as though Collins has a real shot at getting the nod right now.

In Andersen's first season, it may not be such a bad idea to start preparing for future seasons by putting Collins under center. Though he may struggle a bit due to his age and relative lack of experience, the move could pay off big time down the road.
