Could Florida be poised to add transfer running back?

With Kelvin Taylor departing for the NFL, the Florida Gators will need someone to take over the majority of the carries in the backfield. Could this option be a former Michigan Wolverine?

Via a report from College Football Talk, junior running back Derrick Green has gotten his release to transfer from the university. Once Green graduates in the spring, he will be eligible to play right away at whichever school he ultimately chooses.

Ranked as the No. 8 player overall in the class of 2013 by Rivals.com, Green seemingly never lived up to the hype. He had only 157 yards rushing on 47 carries this past year -- which equated to a paltry 3.3 yards-per-carry average. In his three-year career, Green accrued 898 yards on the ground to go along with seven touchdowns.

Interestingly enough, Green has followed multiple Florida coaches on Twitter. While Michigan has yet to officially release a statement on Green's status, it appears as if Green has some interest in Jim McElwain's program.
