Connections abound for West Virginia, Todd Graham in Catcus Bowl

Part of the reason why bowl season is so fun in college football is because of the out of conference connections that reveal themselves in various matchups.

That would apply in the Cactus Bowl, specifically with Arizona State head coach Todd Graham. Graham's last game as Pitt's head coach came against West Virginia, a game Graham lost. He bolted to Arizona State just three weeks later.

“We were getting ready to go to a bowl game and all that, and then, heck, I wound up coming here. That’s what I remember,” Graham said.

Holgorsen and Graham have a history of competitive games when coaching against each other.

“That was a very competitive game,” Holgorsen said. “Every game that we’ve ever coached against coach Graham has been competitive. He’s had success everywhere he’s been.”
