College football title game matchups: A look at every conference

It was a busy week in college football, as contending teams had one last chance to make a push for their conference championship games.

And for a few select programs, a late surge could also give them a chance to get into the College Football Playoff.

For some conferences, the scenarios were pretty straightforward.

In the Big Ten, for example, Michigan's win over Ohio State put the Wolverines into the conference title game against Iowa.

In some other conferences, it was far more complex. (See: Big 12, which had a ton of possible outcomes until things began to settle down after Texas and Oklahoma won on Friday.)

Even wilder was the situation in the Mountain West, which decided to break a three-way tie atop its standings by using computer rankings.

The Mountain West announced its teams on Sunday, choosing UNLV and Boise State, with San Jose State being the odd man out.

"It's unfortunate. I think we were one of the top two teams in the league," SJSU athletic director Jeff Konya told The Associated Press. "I'm sure the other institutions and athletic directors and administrations would say similar things for their program and advocate there. It's unfortunate that somebody was going to be the third wheel, and apparently, the computer decided it was us."
