Stats and trends

This will be the first time since 2010 that the Wolverines and Spartans have played each other with both having undefeated records.

Michigan leads the all-time series 71-37-5, but the Spartans have won nine of the past 13 contests starting with the 35-21 victory in 2008.

The Wolverines hold an 11-10 edge in the series since 2000.

Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh is 2-0 on the road against the Spartans but 3-3 overall against Michigan State.

Michigan State beat then-No. 14 Michigan 27-24 on Halloween last season as a three-touchdown underdog.

Michigan has allowed the fewest tackles for loss (12) this season and are tied for second with Army for fewest sacks allowed (three).

Michigan State has not played a team this season that is currently ranked. Both teams were unranked in the preseason poll.

Pick via FOX Sports Betting Analyst Geoff Schwartz: "I like the under in this defensive matchup between two top-10 teams. Michigan's defense is ranked eighth in points per drive, 32nd in pressure rate and 20th on third downs. Michigan State's defense ranks 23rd in points per drive, eighth in limiting explosive plays and 46th in pressure rate.

"Both defenses also rank in the top 21 in yards per play. Why is this so big? In the 150 games between teams ranked in that statistic, 60% of the matchups have gone under, including four of the past five games featuring Michigan State.

"Beyond the defense, these games have gone under because of the offensive styles of the teams. Both squads feature run-first units that try to limit the number of passes their quarterbacks throw."

PICK: UNDER 50.5 points scored by both teams combined
