Chris Jones named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

Without a doubt, Chris Jones has lived up to the hype for Mississippi State this week. The hyped junior seemed to spend half of his evening in the Missouri backfield last Thursday, helping State improve its record to 7-2 and keeping the Tigers offense in check for most of the night.

For his efforts Missouri, Jones was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

Via the SEC's Week 10 Player of the Week statement:

• Anchored a defense that held Missouri scoreless in second half, while remaining the only SEC team that has not allowed a 4th quarter touchdown this season.

• Jones tied a career high with two tackles for loss - his most since the 2013 Egg Bowl - and a sack.

• Also added a quarterback hurry in the 31-13 win over Missouri.

• Mississippi State has allowed an SEC-fewest 12 points in fourth quarter.

Jones and his fellow Bulldog defensive players will now face their toughest challenge to date, as Alabama and running back Derrick Henry comes to Starkville this week. If State corals Henry and the Tide, don't be surprised to see Jones' name once again on this award next week.
