Central Michigan Upsets Oklahoma State on Lateral Hail Mary

In the craziest ending of the weekend, the Central Michigan Chippewas pulled off the miracle upset over the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the final play of the game.

If you don’t believe that miracles exist, then you probably missed the ending of Saturday’s game between the Central Michigan Chippewas and Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The Chippewas had managed to take the lead earlier in the fourth quarter on Saturday. However, the Cowboys had taken the lead back on a two-yard touchdown to go up 27-24 with five minutes remaining.

Instead of punting on their final drive, Oklahoma State decided to throw on 4th and 13 to run the clock out. However, an intentional grounding penalty gave the Chippewas one final play to make something crazy happen.

That’s exactly what Central Michigan did. Quarterback Cooper Rush launched a pass to Jesse Kroll, who somehow made the catch. As Kroll was going down, he lateraled the ball off to Malik Fountain, who sprinted to the end zone. You can watch the entire wild play in the video below.

Sure, the Chippewas aren’t going to be national title contenders or anything like that, but this was a win that their players will never forget. They’ll take on the UNLV Rebels next week with a chance to go 3-0.
