Can USC break the curse of Pac-12 title game losers?

Ever since the Pac-12 introduced the title game in 2011, something strange has happened to the loser of that game: they've all lost.

Oregon and Stanford have combined to win all five Pac-12 title games, meaning the Pac-12 South champion has lost four straight bowl games. USC, this year's Pac-12 title game runner-up, has a chance to break the streak on Wednesday against Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl.

USC has no interest in being the fifth straight Pac-12 title game runner-up to lose. USC's crosstown rival UCLA lost in 2011 to Illinois and in 2012 to Baylor. In 2013, ASU lost to Texas Tech and in 2014 Arizona fell to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Arizona State head coach Todd Graham believes that the Pac-12 title game hangover had something to do with his team's loss to Texas Tech in 2013.

"Being totally honest, for us, we really emphasize being Pac-12 champions and going to the Rose Bowl is such an important part of our conference," said Graham, per ESPN. "It's really difficult to respond after you are four quarters away and you miss that. I don't care who you are. That's difficult for anybody."

Can USC break the streak? We'll find out on Wednesday night.
