Can Iowa survive its tough road schedule?

The Iowa Hawkeyes are looking to bounce back from a rough and disappointing 7-5 season last year. Head coach Kirk Ferentz is consistently on the hot seat due to his contract and this season will be no different.

However, there is a major stumbling block to the Hawkeyes being the surprise of the Big Ten. Their road schedule is pretty tough. Check this out from Athlon Sports who say the Hawkeyes have the fifth hardest road schedule in the conference:

"The Hawkeyes could be in the mix for the Big Ten West Division title, however, they'll be tested in five road venues that haven't been kind to them recently. Starting with Iowa State, they'll then travel to Wisconsin, Northwestern and Nebraska — all places where Iowa has lost at least one of the last two games it has played there."

When you play in a good conference, it is expected that you will have to play tough road games to make some noise but that schedule is a bear. If the Hawkeyes can navigate those games though, look for them to be in the mix in the West.
