Cal Poly 38, South Dakota 24

Mark Rodgers ran for 235 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries as Cal Poly defeated South Dakota 38-24 Saturday.

Rodgers had second-half scoring runs of 44 and 74 yards as the Mustangs (7-3, 2-1 Great West) scored the final 21 points to overcome a 24-17 third-quarter deficit. Cal Poly had 379 yards rushing as a team.

Dante Warren threw touchdown passes of 31 and 17 yards to Will Powell in the first half as South Dakota (4-6, 1-3) jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Warren was 17 of 37 passing for 270 yards, and Powell caught 6 passes for 168 yards.

Cal Poly rallied to tie the game at 17 on Rodgers' 44-yard TD in the third quarter, but South Dakota retook the lead on a 40-yard interception return by Demetrius Turner with 3:29 left in the period.

Jake Romenelli's 2-yard run for Cal Poly tied it back up, 24-24, before Rodgers scored again to take the lead for good.
