Brooks sets record with 465 yards

You can add Cartel Brooks to the history books after his defense-shredding day. Division III or not, this guy showed he can flat-out run.

Brooks, of Heidelberg University, ran for 465 yards, in a 42-14 win over Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. The new all-division NCAA record belongs to him.

Just a few weeks ago, the record was held by Western Connecticut's Octavias McKoy, who juked his way to 455 yards rushing against Worcester State on Oct. 26. Even though these records were set against Division III competition, it's still saying something.

Brooks isn't new to records though. Last month, he set the Heidelberg single-game records for rushing yards and touchdowns when he piled up 337 yards and five scores.

He finished the regular season with a school-record 1,704 yards rushing.

"We had a good game today," Brooks told the school's website. "This could be our last game, so we wanted to play well for our seniors. I just followed my blocks."

In case you're wondering who holds the FBS single-game record, it's LaDainian Tomlinson with 406 rushing yards.
