Brooks Ellis: SEC Community Service Team
The SEC announced the 2016 Football Community Service Team ahead of the SEC Championship. Representing Arkansas is senior linebacker, Brooks Ellis.
The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 21-league sponsored sports. Teams highlight a student from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
Ellis, who is a William V. Campbell Trophy Finalist and Wuerffel Trophy Semifinalist, has been a part of many charities and benefits to help those in his community. Along with his work within his community, Brooks’ work in the classroom earned him CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
Brooks has done so much for his community and the state of Arkansas. When the Mayflower tornado hit he was there to volunteer with the relief. Always being one to brighten someone’s day, Ellis signed autographs for the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation as well as Big Brothers and Big Sisters or Northwest Arkansas.
One of his main focus’s has been to aid in the fight against illiteracy. Brooks has participated in “Book Hogs Read to Win” and “Book Hogs Pizza Party” with local elementary school students, as well as the “Reading with Razorbacks” initiative. He as also devoted time to kids with special needs at Leverett Elementary School and Lifestyles group (people with disabilities). Brooks also spent time with kids at Special Olympics Arkansas and MLK Youth Day.
As a fan of the Razorbacks, I am proud to have someone of his character representing our state on the field. Congratulations to Brooks and his thank you for all that you have done for the state. Woo Pig.
