Brawl erupts after Memphis beats BYU in 2OT in Miami Beach Bowl

Here's a bowl game that had a little bit of everything.

Memphis defeated BYU 55-48 in a double-overtime thriller in the Miami Beach Bowl on Monday. Then a brawl broke out on the field.

The Tigers sealed the win when defensive back DaShaughn Terry intercepted a pass by Cougars QB Christian Stewart.

Almost immediately after Terry sat down, all hell broke loose. Here are a few looks at it:

The fight left at least one player bloodied, as BYU defensive back Kai Nacua suffered a cut under his eye:

There was some hugging and handshaking after the chaos, but, damn, that was something.

"That's not who we are," Memphis head coach Justin Fuente said in an interview with ESPN after the game, "and I'm upset. I hope it doesn't take away from an unbelievable football game. They'll be a lesson taught. I don't know exactly everything that happened. We've got to learn how to handle success, too, and act the right way. So I don't know really what happened but I don't want us to be involved in that kind of stuff."

Asked what he saw, he said: "Nothing, I was just trying to pull people back."

And in case you missed it, before the game Memphis tight end Alan Cross was seen head-butting his helmeted teammates without a helmet on himself.
