Boykin and Doctson hope for one last connection in bowl game

TCU is most likely to play in either the Alamo Bowl on Jan. 2 or the Russell Athletic Bowl on Dec. 29.

Senior quarterback Trevone Boykin, who was gimpy playing on an ailing ankle during last Friday's regular-season finale victory over Baylor, has said he expects to be 100 percent for the bowl game. He also said he's hopeful senior wide receiver Josh Doctson will also be able to play.

Doctson missed the last two games of the season with a wrist injury. He left the Nov. 7 game at Oklahoma State early after a defender fell on his wrist and he was limited the next week against Kansas, managing just one catch. He hans't played since.

However, the Biletnikoff Award finalist has not been ruled out for the bowl game.

“He’s doing fine. He’s recovering right now,” Boykin told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I feel like he’ll be back. He has the choice, the option to play in the ballgame. I don’t know if he will. I feel like he’s going to be pretty good. His future is bright, too.”

Doctson set numerous school records this season and he led the nation in receiving yards per game (132.7). If Doctson doesn't play, the next time he and Boykin will both be on a sideline again will be the 2016 NFL season.
