Big Ten Football Rumors: Don't expect Jim Harbaugh to leave for Rams

Rumors around Big Ten football are circulating with the potential departure of Jim Harbaugh to the Los Angeles Rams.

Cozying up to the idea that Jim Harbaugh will leave Michigan for the Los Angeles Rams head coaching job? Don’t get too excited, Big Ten football fans. There’s a slim chance the head coach of the Wolverines is going anywhere.

Sure, it’d be silly to rule anything out completely as he could make that decision to take the Rams’ job and make slightly more money, but it’s doubtful.

There have been rumors circulating about the head coach for the past week and main speculation was about a potential move back to the West Coast to take over for the Rams. It was all hearsay, especially since Jeff Fisher had recently signed an extension with the organization to remain the head coach.

After yet another loss on Sunday, the Rams decided to cut him loose, going just 4-9 on the season before getting fired.

This made the Harbaugh rumors heat up even more. Everyone is talking about the possibility of the Rams firing Fisher to make room for Harbaugh has to irk the head coach who’s currently preparing for the Orange Bowl against Florida State. He even called the rumors disrespectful, but didn’t shoot them down.

Two straight 10-win seasons and the ability to recruit with the likes of Urban Meyer and Nick Saban prove that he has what it takes to succeed at this level, but is his heart in the NFL? Possibly, but don’t expect him to leave after a third-place finish in the Big Ten East for the second straight season.

Harbaugh is a competitive guy who might be headed back to the NFL one day, but don’t count on that happening this year. He wants to win a championship of some sort before making the decision to move on.
