Bielema takes responsibility for the Mississippi State loss
Receiving criticism for taking his foot off the pedal was probably something no one would have ever thought Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema would face, and yet here we are.
Facing an opportunity to attempt a go-ahead touchdown late in the Mississippi State game, Bielema took the ball out of the hands of his quarterback Brandon Allen - who had thrown seven touchdowns without an interception - and played it safe. Although the decision turned out to be not so safe after all.
Arkansas' 29-yard field goal attempt was blocked and the Razorbacks fell at home, 51-50.
"We weren't able to execute the most basic thing we should be able to do -- a field goal inside the 20," Bielema said immediately after the game. "I told the players they can put this one on me, and I'll do everything I can to get us better in the field goal operation."
