Bears hire veteran coach John Lovett to coach cornerbacks

Cal head coach Sonny Dykes has finally completed his staff for the 2015 season. On Monday, Cal announced that the football team had hired veteran defensive backs coach John Lovett to coach the cornerbacks this season.

Lovett, 64, has more than four decades of experience college and the NFL, including spending the past two seasons as the defensive backs coach for Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles. 

“We are thrilled to be able to add someone with John’s level of experience and expertise to our coaching staff,” Dykes said in a statement. “He is a proven coach who has had success at the highest level of football.”

Lovett’s previous college stops include Ole Miss, Auburn, Miami, Clemson, North Carolina, Cincinnati and Texas Tech.
