BC's top RB Hilliman out indefinitely with broken foot

Boston College’s ground game took a severe hit over the weekend when the Eagles learned that star running back Jon Hilliman will be out indefinitely after having surgery on a broken foot on Sunday.

Running the football has been a staple of the Eagles offense during the Steve Addazio era, but that will be a lot harder now without Hilliman.

"We will be without Jon Hilliman,” Addazio told the Boston Herald. “This was a physical game that took a toll on us from a personnel standpoint.”

The 6-0, 224-pound sophomore rushed for a season-high 122 yards and a touchdown during BC’s 17-14 upset over Norther Illinois on Saturday, and leads the Eagles with 198 rushing yards and two scores.

In 2014, Hilliman had a strong freshman season as he rumbled for 860 yards and 13 touchdowns.

With Hilliman out, it’s expected that the Eagles will look to Tyler Rouse to carry the load. So far this year the junior has rushed for 161 yards and five touchdowns on 28 attempts.

Boston College (3-1, 0-1) will be back in action this Saturday when it plays at Duke (3-1, 1-0) at 3:30 p.m.
