BC dismisses top running back Harris
Boston College running back Montel Harris, the school's all-time leading rusher, was dismissed from the team Tuesday by head coach Frank Spaziani.
"Montel Harris has been permanently dismissed from our football team due to a repeated violation of team rules," Spaziani said. "We are grateful for his contributions the past four seasons and will support him in completing his degree requirements and in his future pursuits."
Harris gained 3,735 yards in his Eagles career, also setting the all-time Boston College records for carries (786) and 100-yard games (22).
The 22-year-old was granted a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA after a knee injury forced him to miss the final seven games of last season. He had already missed the first three games, and only appeared in two.
The 2011 ACC Preseason Player of the Year re-aggravated the knee injury in February, forcing him to miss spring practice.
