Russell had thrown an FBS-leading 29 touchdown passes at the time of his injury. He’d also run for six touchdowns for what was an unbeaten Baylor team that ranked No. 2 in the nation at the time of his injury. Russell finished the season completing 60 percent of his passes with only six interceptions and took just three sacks in seven games.

In his career at Baylor, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Russell has a 40-10 TD-INT ratio.
