Bama runs play similar to play they complained about Ole Miss running
Now we know where Ole Miss got the idea to run the pop-pass play they used on the Alabama.
In case you missed it, Nick Saban reached out to the SEC league office complaining about Ole Miss' use of offensive linemen running beyond the three yards allowed by rule. The Rebels scored on Alabama using this technique late in their game, which proved to be the deciding points in the contest.
By the letter of the law, the play was in fact illegal and should have been called back. However, Alabama can't exactly cry foul on this one, as they have also been known to use offensive linemen in the same exact role.
Check out this Vine for visual proof. Center Ryan Kelly is clearly beyond the allowed three yards before Alabama's quarterback throws the ball.
The next time Saban has an issue with his opponent's methods, he may might want to check the tape of his team's plays, otherwise his complaints could begin to fall on deaf ears before long.
