Badgers QB Stave has great opportunity under Chryst

Whenever there is a coaching change, there are certain players that stand to benefit depending on what that coach brings to the table. When your incoming coach not only recruited you, but is known as a ‘quarterback guru’, you become very excited as a quarterback.

That’s exactly the situation that Joel Stave finds himself in now that Paul Chryst has returned to Madison. Here is what he told Madison.com about how his new head coach can help him:

“I like his approach,” Stave said. “I like the way he approaches the game. I like the way he approaches coaching and preparing players. I think he’s going to be good for the program. I think he’s going to be good for me personally, too.”

Chryst has laid out clear expectations for his quarterback and even showed great confidence in him by naming him the starter early and moving Tanner McEvoy to the defensive side of the ball. Time will tell if this move will produce big results on the field but we know for sure now that Stave is more comfortable and relaxed as the unquestioned leader of the offense.
