Austin Allen Leads SEC in Pass Efficiency

The first-year starting junior quarterback for Arkansas, Austin Allen, ranks 1st in pass efficiency in the SEC.

Coming off the loss to A&M, Austin Allen garnered the attention of NFL scouts for his toughness. He has already shown he can handle adversity but has he shown that he is a quality passer? Yup!

Allen, who is in his first season as a starter, leads the SEC in pass efficiency. He ranks 15th nationally. Anyone who questioned his ability to be a really good quarterback has got to be eating some humble pie about now.

After I wrote my piece on Austin being, according to NFL draft analysts, the best QB in the league, I received a lot of feedback both positive and negative. Here’s the thing, I am not saying he is the best to ever play or even doing the best right now. I am saying that people who get paid by NFL teams, to identify high-level talent, are really high on Allen.

Currently, Allen is the 2nd in the league in completion percentage to Sean White. Nationally, White ranks 10th and Allen at 13th. This is after Arkansas played TCU and Texas A&M, who are no slouches at defending the pass. Especially A&M.

Later this week, I’ll do a film analysis of Alabama, which will include how I think Austin Allen matches up with the Tide. For now, though, let’s take a minute as fans and be happy with the high-level talent we have in Allen. There are plenty of teams that would collectively sell their soul for A.A., I can guarantee you that. Woo Pig!
