Auburn S Josh Holsey out for season

Auburn defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson says starting safety Josh Holsey is out for the season.

Johnson says Holsey injured a knee on the final play of last Thursday's practice. He says he's not sure if surgery will be required.

Holsey was the 11th-ranked Tigers' starter at boundary safety and also the starting dime back. Ryan White replaced him for Auburn's 45-41 upset of Texas A&M that vaulted the Tigers 11 spots in the Associated Press poll.

Johnson says Holsey ''was so critical to us in our dime package.'' He says he's not sure of the exact nature of the injury.

Starting cornerback Chris Davis missed two games earlier with an injury, and backup Jonathan Jones hasn't played this season.

The Tigers play Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
