Auburn Football vs. Texas A&M: Odds and Expert Predictions

Auburn football enters their matchup with Texas A&M as a 3.5 point favorite at home this Saturday night in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

I was a bit surprised to see that Auburn football is a favorite going into this game with Texas A&M. Not because I don’t think Auburn will win, but because the Aggies have a better resume so far this season with a win over a ranked opponent and a thrashing of an FCS school.

That makes me think the people in Vegas were also impressed with the changes Gus Malzahn made on offense from week one to week two. Plus, it helps that this game will be played at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Although, over the past four years it has been the road team who has won this game. Hopefully Auburn will break that trend this weekend.

Barrett Sallee: He admits that he picked Texas A&M to win this game before the season, but he’s swapping it now and picking the Tigers to win a close one.

ESPN: This one was split as four SEC bloggers picked Texas A&M to win, while David Ching was the only one who picked Auburn, and did so with a score of 28-27. The winning scores for Texas A&M were 24-17, 24-20, 24-20 and 38-35, so most people expect a close game.

CBS: The CBS crew has seven experts making picks, and three of them picked Auburn to win straight up, while four of them picked Auburn to cover the spread, which makes no sense.

Fox Sports: Stewart Mandel picked Texas A&M to cover the spread and win outright 24-17, while Bruce Feldman also has the Aggies winning 21-17.

Bleacher Report: Brian Pedersen has Auburn winning the game 26-23.

Campus Insiders: Rich Cirminiello has Auburn winning and covering the spread 28-24. Brian Stutlz also has the Tigers winning by four, 35-31.

Sports Illustrated: Six of the seven Sports Illustrated pickers has Texas A&M with the upset at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Shout-out to Colin Becht as the lone wolf who picked Auburn.

As you can see, most ‘experts’ are picking Texas A&M to win the game even though Auburn is favored at home. Even those who are picking Auburn think they won’t win by much.

The over/under for the game is at 54.5 points – that’s how many points the two teams will combine to score in the game.

As you can see from my score prediction below, I think these two teams will be just over that number. I think the winning team will have to get into the high 20’s or low 30’s.

My prediction:

Auburn: 31

Arkansas State: 27
