An assistant football coach at Maine Maritime Academy has died in a traffic accident.
The Hancock County Sheriff's Department said in a news release that 24-year-old Richard E. Dykas II of Dedham, Mass., was driving a pickup truck early Sunday on Route 166 when it went off the road and landed on its roof. Dykas was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another assistant coach, 22-year-old Steven F. Nackley of New Hartford, N.Y., was a passenger in the vehicle. The sheriff's department said Nackley was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
