Arnell twins in separate FCS first-place games
(STATS) - The Arnell twins are set to play Saturday in separate FCS first-place showdowns featuring unbeaten conference teams ... over 1,500 miles apart.
And they'll both be even farther than that from their home in Rancho Bernardo, California.
Zach Arnell is the starting free safety for No. 17 North Dakota (6-2, 5-0), which hosts Weber State (5-2, 4-0) in a Big Sky Conference matchup in Grand Forks. Jacob Arnell is a wide receiver for San Diego (6-1, 5-0), the Pioneer Football League leader which travels across the country to Poughkeepsie, New York, to face Marist (4-3, 4-0).
The Arnells played together in their first two collegiate seasons at Santa Barbara Community College in 2013 and '14 before they went separate ways to four-year schools.
Zach, listed by UND as 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, is bigger than his brother, and is a redshirt junior after he suffered a season-ending injury last year. He has 37 tackles and two interceptions this season.
Jacob, 5-10, 172, starred on San Diego's special teams last year and is in his senior season with eight receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown.
