Ameer Abdullah might be the running back the NFL needs
Nebraska fans already hold the star running back in very high regard, but could Ameer Abdullah be exactly what the doctor ordered for the NFL?
You will often hear about players being "high-character guys" during the draft process but with Abdullah, it is not just a draft buzzword. He was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten student-athlete, two-time winner of the Nebraska HERO award for leadership in the community, plus the NCAA gave him the honor of the Senior CLASS award as the most well-rounded senior football player in the nation after the 2014 season. He was also the player keynote speaker at Big Ten Media Days last summer.
On the field, Ameer has heard the Warrick Dunn comparisons and offered a predictably humble response per Mike Trainer of Bleacher Report:
"We're two different people. I don't think I'm as good as Warrick Dunn yet. I'm nowhere near the level of a Warrick Dunn yet. I obviously have confidence in myself and think I'm a great player right now, but there are definitely a lot of things I can get better at. To have Warrick Dunn comparisons right now is a little bit premature. I feel like I'm just Ameer Abdullah."
