A&M names Kyle Allen starter at QB to open the season

The Texas A&M Aggies haven't let their last two quarterback competitions bleed into the regular season and this year won't be any different as Kevin Sumlin has pegged sophomore Kyle Allen as the team's starter for the opener against Arizona State. 

Allen started the last five games of 2014 for the Aggies and threw for 1,322 yards and 16 touchdowns in his freshman season with the team. Allen was also named MVP of the Liberty Bowl in a victory over West Virginia. 

Texas A&M's backup quarterback will likely be true freshman Kyler Murray, who was a five-star recruit last offseason and is coming off a legendary Texas high school career including a 42-0 overall record, winning three state titles. 

Don't rule out Murray getting onto the field often for the Aggies, as he brings a dimension to the game with his feet that Allen cannot:
