Alabama State to host Cheyney in Turkey Day Classic
(STATS) - Alabama State completed its 2017 schedule by adding Cheyney University for the 94th annual Turkey Day Classic on Nov. 23 at ASU Stadium in Montgomery.
The two programs have not met previously. Alabama State's Turkey Day Classic is the longest running HBCU Classic in the nation.
"I think it is an honor for us to be playing Cheyney University in the Turkey Day Classic," Alabama State athletic director Melvin Hines said. "Cheyney is the oldest HBCU in the country, celebrating 180 years, and we are celebrating 150 years as a university."
Alabama State, an FCS program in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, finished 4-7 last year. Cheyney, a Division II program, was 1-10.
