Alabama reportedly interested in ex-Notre Dame QB Golson

Add Alabama to the list of schools interested in former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson.

The Crimson Tide would take Golson, who started 23 games for the Irish, if he decided to transfer to Tuscaloosa, ESPN reported Wednesday.

But despite Alabama being one of 10 schools Golson gave Notre Dame's compliance office as a potential transfer destination, Alabama isn't confident that Golson would receive a waiver to attend an SEC school, according to the report.

Golson, who already has visited Florida State, Florida and Georgia, graduated last month and is looking to play his final year of eligibility at another school.

Golson's 2013 suspension for cheating on a test is the major hurdle in a possible transfer to an SEC school. One of the requirements of the conference's transfer rule is "The student-athlete has not been subject to official university or athletics department disciplinary action at any time during enrollment at any previous collegiate institution (excluding limited discipline applied by a sports team)."
