Alabama is using a high school QB to simulate Deshaun Watson in practice
So far this season, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson has racked up 3,704 passing yards, 1,032 rushing yards, 31 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing scores. Oh and he finished third in the Heisman voting after only his second regular season on a college campus.
After leading the No. 1 ranked Tigers to a 37-17 Orange Bowl victory over No. 4 Oklahoma, his head coach had some high praise for his quarterback: “Deshaun Watson is the best player in the country,” Dabo Swinney said. “People can have their opinions, but there is not a better one than No. 4.”
While simulating Watson is as difficult task as there may be in college football, Alabama is loaded with arguably the most talented roster in the country. Who amongst the Crimson Tide team has been selected to simulate the Tigers' best player in practice?
According to AL.com, the Tide are using 2016 early enrollee and quarterback prospect Jalen Hurts. Which means Alabama is using a player only a few weeks removed from the high school ranks to simulate the best dual-threat quarterback in the nation.
What could go wrong with this plan?
