Alabama five-star freshman QB Blake Barnett hospitalized

If you missed Alabama freshman quarterback Blake Barnett at practice this week, the five-star recruit has a valid excuse. Barnett has been in the hospital the past three days.

According to AL.com, Barnett has been hospitalized while undergoing multiple blood transfusions. Alabama had yet to make any official announcements on Barnett's status as of Wednesday.

Barnett was a member of Alabama's latest recruiting class and was regarded as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback prospect in the nation for 2015 by 247Sports. Many expect the touted Barnett to be the heir apparent to Jake Coker once the senior's eligibility expires at the end of the season.

UPDATE: Thankfully Barnett was discharged from the hospital Wednesday evening. His status with the team has yet to be determined publicly by school officials. Redshirt freshman David Cornwell has taken over the duties as Alabama's scout team quarterback in Barnett's absence this week in practice.
