Airplane banners are back in Miami, featuring Butch Davis, Mario Cristobal
The banners are back. Earlier in the season “Fire Al Golden” banners followed the Miami football team around the country until the Hurricanes finally let go of their embattled coach.
After a few weeks of silence, the banners are back in Miami. Shortly before the Hurricanes topped Georgia Tech, 38-21, on Saturday, a pro-Butch Davis and an anti-Mario Cristobal banner took to the sky. Davis coached the Hurricanes from 1995-2000, leading the team to a 51-20 record.
One banner read, “Make Miami great again – Butch Davis 2016,” while the other one took a shot at Cristobal’s head coaching record at FIU and read, “We need a coach not a 27-47 recruiter.”
