Yale ruins Columbia's postseason hopes with 75-71 win (Mar 04, 2017)

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Blake Reynolds scored 16 points and passed out six assists and Alex Copeland's layup off his steal sent Yale past Columbia 75-71 on Saturday night to eliminate the Lions from the Ivy League's first-ever postseason tournament.

Penn (6-8) beat No. 2 seed Harvard 75-72 just minutes later and took the fourth and final berth of the tournament and will play Ivy champion Princeton. Yale (17-10, 9-5) is the No. 3 seed and will play No. 2 seed Harvard.

Copeland's layup broke a 71-all tie with 78 seconds remaining. Then, with six seconds left, Anthony Dallier came up with a block on Nate Hickman's layup attempt. Miye Oni added two free throws to end it. Blake Reynolds scored 16 points, Copeland 13 and Trey Phills 11.

Luke Petrasek tied it at 71 when he made 1 of 2 free throws with 2:05 left and Columbia (11-16, 5-9) missed its last four shot attempts.

Lukas Meisner paced Columbia with 14 points and nine rebounds, Mike Smith added 13 points and Petrasek 10.
