Yale 72, Columbia 67

Greg Mangano scored 21 points and Yale defeated Columbia 72-67 Saturday night for its sixth win in eight games.

Yale (11-9, 4-2 Ivy League) took command with a 14-0 run that began with Michael Grace's layup at the 7:32 mark of the first half. Over a 3:10 span, a 21-19 lead became 35-19. The 16-point margin at the end of the run matched the halftime differential, when Yale led 43-27.

The Bulldogs increased their lead to 19 points early in the second half on a Mangano jump shot with 19:40 left, and maintained a double-digit advantage until Brian Barbour scored on a layup with 12:29 left. The Lions (12-8, 3-3) stayed within single digits almost all the rest of the way, while Yale labored through 42.9-percent shooting (9 of 21) in the second half.

Barbour led Columbia with 19 points, while Mark Cisco had 17 and Asenso Ampim added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
